A Year of Style - 2012

Hi guys. How is your week going? My first week living in the city has been pretty good. Monday I figured out how to take the bus, haha, there is an app thankfully for that which I figured out after having missed the first bus. Monday night I was also able to catch up with an old friend who was moving back to Scotland the next day. It was so good to see him. Tuesday I started catching up in the blog world - I missed you all! It is soooo nice to go from a 2 hour commute to a 5 minute one. Tomorrow night I am headed to a friend of a friends album release show and am pretty excited about it. This weekend is also full of fun plans - trying out as an extra for a movie, house party, aaaand hopefully finishing decorating my room.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anywho... since my world was put on hold for a moment at the end of the year I never got to do the fun end of year posts everyone else seemed to do. I am now playing catch up for lost time. I thought it might be fun to look back at my favorite outfits of last year. Last year I started this blog not entirely sure where I wanted to go with it, but I am happy with whatever it has transformed in to. I learned a lot the past year when it comes to blogging. Routine posts = good, long absences and forgetting to check email = bad. ShyScout is still a work in progress as am I. I would never say I am a fashion expert, heck, I wouldn't even say I am stylish most days - but I try. Documenting my outfits the past year was fun and helped me feel more comfortable and confident in myself and what I wear.

yearofstyle

Last year was all about dresses from the looks of it. I also embraced my waves. I swear, if you met me two years ago I would have been in blue jeans every day with a pin straight bob. At lot can change in a year. I look forward to seeing what this year brings.

Have a lovely day everyone! Also, did you enter my Valentine's Day Giveaway from Maine Coon Crafts? If not you should enter now before it is too late! The contest is open until next Wednesday the 13th.

Life Lately - Moved In

Hi guys! How are all of you? Did you have a good weekend?? I can hardly move... in thanks to my move. I am officially moved in an living in Chicago. Carrying my life up three flights of stairs was intense, thankfully, I had my two male room mates, their friend, and my dad to do the heavy lifting. I am sure my mom and I could have carried the queen size mattress (couch, two chairs, dresser...) up the three flights of stairs, but I wanted to be done with moving in before sun rise the next day. Aside from the snow on move-in day everything went smoothly. After having a few hours to settle in I hit up the town and met up with some old friends and had a blast. Chicago is right where I should be and I am looking forward to the new adventures.

I already miss sweetpea like crazy - look at those cute puppy dawg eyes^! I am happy to announce that at least my closet is up an running. Having a walk-in closet is AMAZEBALLS. I even have enough room for Abrahammy to live in there (surprisingly my closet is warmer than my room so it is the best spot for him). I still have quite a bit of configuring and decorating to do but I will keep you all updated with the progress.

I am so excited to no longer have a commute. I am getting 4 hours of my life back and I can return to blogging as usual - phew. This week I have some goodies planned starting with a Valentine's day giveaway tomorrow! See you then :]

Right meow

Hi all! How is your week going? Mine has been a busy one at work, no complaints though :] I wish I had some fun news to share but this week has been pretty ordinary. I hope once I move things will be shaken up a bit. There will be so many new places to explore and people to meet, it is all I have been daydreaming about. I need change. Routine is nice and predictable but I need to break free.

Today's outfit is one of my new favorites - mainly because of the coat - one of my favorite purchases. I know many of you around the blogosphere own it, but it doesn't make it any less cute, haha. For those of you who follow me on IG this may look familiar. I meant to share this last week but the flu kicked my butt.

This outfit is by no means weather appropriate. Some days I just don't care though. I picked up the dress and shoes on sale at TJ Maxx and I wanted to give them a spin. I only lasted 5 minutes outside, but it was worth it...or maybe this is how I caught the flu? Ladies - seriously, bundle up!!

Outfit Details: Dress & Shoes - TJ Maxx, Coat - Lauren Moffatt, Pin - Thrifted, Bag - Koi Story.

Eeep! I neeeeeed a haircut! Can anyone hook a lady up? I am out of excuses. It is bad. Anywho, have a beautiful day everyone!

Movin' on up (to the north side)

Hi lovelies! How were your weekends? Mine was pretty darn good. I recovered from what I think was the flu, which knocked me out for the good part of last week. I should have gotten a flu shot... Thank goodness for Nyquil, am I right? My room mates and I signed a lease Saturday!!! Wahooo. So long as our applications go through, which I think they should, it is ours come February 1st.

apt

Isn't it cute? It was the nicest option by far and only a few blocks from my work - score! There were a few groups of people who wanted the space, but thankfully my room mates happened to look at the apartment first so the current owners told us to go for it. Anywhoooo... I have been planning out my new room all weekend. Can't wait.

Other than that I have been working on setting up shop. It is getting there. Starting up a store is a lot more work than I anticipated but I want to do it right the first time. If you guys have any tips or tricks please tell me!

I saw Lincoln yesterday - SO GOOD. For those of you who don't know - I love Abraham Lincoln. He was put on this earth for great things. He is my favorite president hands down. His museum in Springfield - almost - if not better (yeah, I said it) - than Disney World!!! I even named my hedgehog after him (so?). While I knew how the movie ends going in to it I still couldn't help but lose it. I have been way too emotional these days.

I am just rambling now. Overall - good weekend :]

Life Lately - ShyScout Vintage

Hi all!! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was spent recovering from a cold, no fun. I did manage to make it out to see The Life of Pi - it was so good! I highly recommend it. I wish I would have read the book first though, that is now on my to-do list. Anywho... I also checked out an apartment this weekend. It was nice but we are hoping to look at a few more before we make a decision. I can't wait to find a place. I am already scheming about what my room will look like and I don't even have one yet, haha.

I have a bit more exciting news! This weekend I finished cataloguing my shop's inventory and began photographing the items. I am nearly done with taking the photos - in the home stretch! I am becoming more excited about it each day. Here is a mini sneak peak at some of the goodies headed your way!

This isn't even the clothes... Haha. Yikes - I know. I debated opening up a stall at one of my local antique stores but figured the items would be seen by more people online. I hope these items find good homes :]

Have a good Monday everyone!
