Wardrobe Wears - Kizzzmet Dress

Hi all! I am glad this week is speeding by. I am excited to have Friday off for the 4th. I will be headed up to a family friends lake house. I am excited for some sun, smore's, and swimmin! Any fun plans for my fellow American bloggers? Anywho... today I am bringing back my weekly wardrobe posts and I thought I would kick it off with my (current) favorite dress.

A few weeks back I headed up to Dekalb for a change of scenery and because they have a handful of cute vintage shops that I wanted to check out. Normally when I go thrifting I have a list of items in mind so I don't go overboard - that day I was on the hunt for a bee brooch. The first few shops had beautiful items, even a few bee brooches, but all were a bit overpriced if you ask me. I was starting to feel discouraged that the trip was a waste of time and energy. After two veggie tacos, however, I was feeling reenergized and ready to try one more store. Walking up to the window - there it was. Alright, no, it was not a fluttering bee brooch - but even better! A dress covered in bees!!

Now I typically avoid yellow like the plague, but I had to try this dress on. I swear, this dress was made for me. It fit like a glove. Typically dresses are too large on top and too small on bottom, but this dress had everything going on...aaaaand the bees! I fell in love right then and there. Also, having recently gone blonde I don't hate the color yellow so much on me - triple score.

I think you get the drift when it comes to how much I adore this dress. It is perfect for summer and I have received so many compliments the few times i've worn it. What more can you ask for?

Have any of you found something extra special thrifting lately? I'd love to hear about it.

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Crazy Miss Daisy

Hi all! How goes things? This week seems to be slowing down - I am probably just too excited for a three day weekend. Any fun plans for the holiday? I plan on sleeping. I am also working on possibly making a mini road trip happen. We will see. Anywho... instead of posting a Wardrobe Wednesday post yesterday, I thought I would combine it with today - partially thrifted, mainly wardrobe.

Untitled Untitled Untitled

Do any of you remember this top? I picked it up at the designer charity sale last fall. The weather is finally nice enough to wear it. I love the crazy daisy design and cute cut out in back.

Outfit Details: Top - Thifted, Milly of New York, Bag thrifted, Jeans - TJ Maxx, Shoes - DSW.

Recently I have been spending a lot of time scheming up new tattoo ideas. I think it is about time I added another. This one will be quite visible - be on the look out ;]

What is new in your world? Have a great weekend everyone.

Oh... and for giggles - a cute candid shot. Stocked up on Benadryl - may allergy season commence!

Thrifted Thursdays - Kewpie Love

Hey guys! This week is flying by - wahoo. I hope I didn't turn too many of you off with my *ahem "different" blog post yesterday, I was in serious need of a laugh when I wrote it. If you can't laugh at yourself...right?

I spent the majority of last Saturday morning hitting up estate sales with my mom. I was one happy camper. We found so many goodies. I know I haven't opened up my etsy shop officially yet, but I have so many fun items to share with you all when that day comes (hopefully the beginning of June *Crosses fingers). In the mean time though, I thought I would share some of my personal faves from this past weekend.

Some cute vintage toy finds.

Isn't the wave patterned sheer section on the pink dress adorable? I plan on shortening the length of the dress just a smidge. Aaaand last but not least...

kewpies from 1919 kewpies from 1919 kewpies from 1919 kewpies from 1919 kewpies from 1919

I found these cuties at the last estate sale I stopped by. They are carnival chalkware Kewpies from 1919 (they have been dated on the bottom). The girl kewpie is missing her hair...and they are both missing their arms, but they were just too cute and old to pass up. I think these guys are the oldest items I own.

Do any of you collect Kewpies? I have a bunch of Toy Army posts headed your way - these will be included.

Hope you all are having a beautiful day :]

1972 - A good year

Hey guys! How goes it? I am pretty excited the weekend is just around the corner. My boss has been out on vacation and I have had to pick up all the slack - there are only two designers where I work (him being one of them) so I have had a lot to stay on top of. Eeep!

Anywho. I haven't posted any thrift finds on here in awhile (or much else for that matter) so I thought it would be fun to show off one of my semi-recent finds. I found this beautiful 1972 Schwinn Breeze at an estate sale on St.Patrick's day, isn't the color perfect for the occasion?

I have dubbed her Schwinny. I went to the estate sale late in the afternoon hoping they still had their pyrex collection but I was out of luck - thankfully, everyone failed to notice this beauty in the garage. Everything on it is original and functions except for the back wheel which I had to have replaced. I am so glad warm weather is right around the corner so that I can show off my new ride :]

Have any of you thrifted anything neat lately? I would love to hear about it! Have a good weekend everyone.

Childish Tendencies

I had a great childhood. When I think back to all the crazy road trips my parents dragged my brother and I on and all the stupid things I did as a kid I can't help but smile and laugh. Some days I wish so badly that life were still as easy and carefree as things were back then. When your five you don't care about how you are perceived - you're just you, and that's that. Take it or leave it. You also didn't know genuine pain, heartache, or loss (hopefully) yet. It was a beautiful way to be... Can you tell this weather is getting to me? The trees need to turn green already.

Anywho, let's turn this back around? What I was trying to get at is that although life can get rough at times we all hopefully have some sweet childhood memories to hold on to and cherish. There are also some things we just won't grow out of. That five year-old you lives on in one way or another. When I was a little I dressed up as a princess every day. I kid you not. I didn't own a pair of jeans until the 4th grade! While I may not dress in sequins (every day) anymore, I still love to dress up. This pinafore outfit makes me feel like a kid again. All I need now is a pinwheel and some pigtails.

Outfit Details: Pinafore & purse - thrifted, Tights - Target, Shoes - Urban Outfitters.

When I saw this dress on a rack a the local thrift store I thought that it looked neat but I was afraid it was too "groovy" for every day wear. This dress sat in the back of my closet for a good part of the year before I decided to give it a twirl over Easter weekend. As soon as I put it on I fell in love. I felt like a grade school girl all over again. What makes this look even more special is that it was handmade. Someone put a lot of time and love in to this dress and I am so glad that it found a new home with me.

I am all over the place today, aren't I? The rain and season change has my head stuck in the clouds. I will get back in to proper blogging groove shortly. I just felt like rambling today.

Have a good day everyone! Tomorrow I plan to share with you all my 1972 Schwinn Breeze estate sale find :]

Wontcha be my Valentine?

Hi all! Happy Valentine's day to each and every one of you!! While I am not necessarily in a mushy gushy mood today, I love a reason to dress up. What a better excuse to wear all red and hearts, Am I right?

aaIMG_0446 aIMG_0435

Outfit Details: Dress and Cupid Pin - Thrifted, Shoes - Target, Glasses - Jason Wu.

So here is my Vday look. I thrifted this dress a while back and it was missing the middle button. Being sort of lazy I never got around to sewing on new buttons - this is where the cupid pin comes in - I thrifted the cupid pin a few months back as well specifically for Valentine's day, and viola! Instant button!! I really like this new to me look. It would be perfect on a date with a cute boy, but alas, I will be eating the chocolates my mom sent me on the couch tonight. At least I will look cute doing it ;]

Have a lovey dovey day ya'll.

Apartment therapy

Hi guys! How's it goin. Wednesday already, wahoo! The beginning of the month is always a wee bit hectic at work so I am looking forward to this week being over. Anywho, I have some fun stuff to show off today - a little sneak peak in to my new room. I just have to say that decorating is not exactly my forte. I have collected a bunch of crazy stuff over the years and it kind of just ends up on my walls and all over the place, haha. If any of you have tips please let me know! I like the white walls at the moment so I don't have too much up just yet....

aDSC_0085 aDSC_0104 aDSC_0091 aDSC_0129 aDSC_0109 aDSC_0122 aDSC_0134 aDSC_0157

I think hodge podge and a rainbow threw up a little bit best describes my interior design aesthetic. Isn't my new kit cat clock wonderful? I just put him up on the wall last night (I took the room photos the night before, but he now lives in the nook on the empty wall) and he is so much fun to watch. I could also use some curtains...my window looks directly in to our neighbors kitchen - yikes! All in all though I am starting to feel settled :]

Have a beautiful day everyone! Tonight at 6 p.m. I will be selecting the winner of my my Valentine's Day Giveaway from Maine Coon Crafts. If you haven't entered this is your last chance!! Good luck everyone.

On dressing like an old woman...

Hi guys! Happy New Year's again :] My year is off to a good start already. I started compiling my store's items yesterday and am pretty excited for everything to go live soon. Anywho...New Year's eve was a lot of fun. It mainly consisted of dancing and singing to 90's music but I am ok with that. I didn't end up wearing anything sparkly - I actually went with my outfit from Monday. Cute, simple, and warm.

My brother and I right before the countdown ^ I need to move out already! The city is calling my name...

Alrighty, let's get back on track. It is Thursday and that calls for a Thrifted Thursday post! Due to recent events I took a bit of a hiatus from my regular thrifting routine, but I am slowly getting back in to the groove mainly to stock my store. I did manage to find a gem though just in time for Christmas. I had just gotten my Christmas bonus and needed to spend part of it on something - pronto, haha.

aDSC_0108 aDSC_0115

I had my eye on this coat for awhile but it's price tag was a tad too much for me. Like magic though it was on sale for under $40 just in time for Christmas. And let's be real - it was going to be a "blue christmas" without that coat (ahaha I am hilarious...). The collar is mink - eeep! The ONLY reason why I felt ok buying it was because the coat is at least 40 years older than me...and that means the poor creature has been gone for a very long time :-/ Okkkk. I still don't know how I feel about it, but the coat is cute and sooo warm. I feel like a fancy old lady strutting around with this coat and I am completely ok with that.

Have you found any good thrift finds lately?

To new beginnings

Hi all. I apologize that I took a bit of longer break this time... I needed some time to get my head and heart straight so I opted to wait and come back at the beginning of this month. Seems like my last post was the calm before the storm. I have been dealing with some personal things and major life changes. It will be ok. Please bear with me though.

Moving on... How have you all been? I missed the holiday fun in the blogging world when it comes to those of you in America. I hope you had a good time with your loved ones. For everyone else - hope you have been enjoying life in general. I have been keeping busy with friends and family. Friday night a group of my girlfriends and I hit up the town and it was a bunch of fun. I need to move to the city already!! I have created a life list and that's on the top. Need a roomie?

While I did not hit up the Black Friday sales like I typically would, this year I did manage to hit up a few of my favorite thrift stores. I found the sweetest little dress.

aDSC_0008 aDSC_0007 aDSC_0013 aDSC_0024

I needed a bit of sunshine world and this dress did the trick! Isn't the lace lovely? I don't usually like the color yellow on me but the the cut of this dress was just too good to pass up. For the upcoming year I hope to wear only vintage thrift finds... we will see how that goes.

Outfit Details: Dress & floral pin - thrifted. Shoes - DSW.

It was 60 here in Chicago this weekend. Pretty darn nuts for the beginning of December, but hey, I am not complaining :]

Have a beautiful Monday everyone!

Thrifted Thursday - Feelin' Goovy

Hi everyone! How's it going? Have any fun plans for the weekend? I am looking forward to half off sales at my favorite thrift spots for the holiday :] Other than that I have no major plans. I can't wait for the following weekend because my brother will be starring in his fall play - Lysistrata Jones - a smart pop musical comedy loosely based on Aristophanes' ancient Greek antiwar comedy. The title characters, Lysistrata Jones, is a modern-day cheerleader who convinces her squad to stop "giving it up" to their boyfriends on the Athens University basketball team until the team ends their long losing streak and wins a game, Librettist Douglas Carter Beane was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and Tony Award for best book of a musical for Lysistrata Jones, "a musical about Faith, Hoops and Chastity." - Henry is playing the lead basketball player and love interest. I am assuming it will be pretty similar to High School Musical, haha.

Anywhooo... let's get back on track. It is Thrifted Thursday, and I have been up to a lot of thrifting. As I announced earlier in the week - I have decided to open up a vintage shop at the beginning of next year - I am pretty excited about it. I will have a legitimate reason to keep up my bad thrifting habits, haha. Here is a mini glimpse at some of my recent finds -

Vintage Dresses Vintage Dresses Vintage Dress

I found these groovy dresses on Sunday. They were half off since they had been sold as "Halloween Costumes", which meant I picked them up for $2 & $5. I really want to go to some ball with the Brady Bunch in the yellow dress, haha.

If you follow me on Instagram these books will look familiar to you. I scooped up copies of the 1957 edition of Oliver Twist, 1958 edition of Vanity fair, and 1960's editions of Little Men and Best in Children's Books set. They were all in beautiful condition aaaand I am totally a sucker when it comes to judging a (literal) book by it's cover.

Recent thrifted Pyrex Recent thrifted Pyrex Recent thrifted Pyrex Recent thrifted Pyrex

I had to save the best for last (in my opinion). I added a huuuge chunk to my pyrex collection over the weekend. I found pyrex cups for 50 cents each aaand had a $20 coupon to use at one of my favorite thrift stores. This = mega pyrex haul (plus the two pieces of fireking and glassbake). I can't wait to make all of my Thanksgiving dishes with all of my new pyrex. It is going to be on pretty Thanksgiving. Tehehe.

Do any of you collect pyrex? It is quite addicting. Anywho. I hope you have a beautiful day.
