Thrifted - Home goods

Hi all! I realize I usually post about thrifted items on Thursday but yesterday was a bit busy - working on some freelance projects and dinner with the boyfriends family. Anywho, I thought it might be fun to show you a few items from around my apartment that I thrifted over the years. Looking at the items you can see that my apartment is a bit eclectic.

Washington portrait - I picked up this fine looking picture of George a few years back. While he isn't Abe, he is a close second in my list of favorite past presidents. I picked him up for a dollar at the Salvation Army.

Floral mirror - This is one of my favorite thrifted finds. The mirror was originally a copper color but I wanted a project so I spray painted it a light greenish-blue. I picked this up for under 5 dollars! The detailing on it is perfect, you instantly feel fancier looking into it.

Mustard chair - Everyone seems to be drawn to this chair. The great thing about it is that there are two! My mom has the other chair at her house however. I have had people offer to buy it off of me - no joke! We picked them up at a garage sale a few years ago for $10. They are the comfiest things to sit in and I love their color.

Wooden unicorn plaque - This plaque is so ridiculous I had to buy it (a problem I have with a lot of thrifted purchases). Thankfully it was less than a dollar so I considered it a steal.

Have you guys thrifted anything wonderful lately? I need to start selling some of my finds because it is getting out of control.

I am not sure if I will post again this weekend. My roommates friends from Kentucky are coming in to town tonight along with her brother, and tomorrow my mom and sweetpea are coming to visit. Our apartment is going to be packed with guests. If I don't post again - have a lovely weekend everyone :]

  1. The salvos's near me is so expensive you'd never find anything for a dollar. They were selling a poster of Audrey Hepburn for $15 dollars last week! Crazy prices!

    1. Thank you :] BOTH chairs were $10 total. I think the man selling them just wanted them gone and that was all we had in cash at the time.

  9. haha I like the Washington picture and that chair is so pretty. I'm always looking for a mirror or frame thats detailed like that so I could spray-paint it. You lucky lucky dog. Also, I can't pass up a lot of unicorn stuff, especially something as cool as that so I don't blame you. We have similar taste and I can't wait to start sharing some of my thrifted finds. My house is "eclectic" too :)

    1. I think the mauve and mustard might be cool together - or way too much. I would love to have a thrifting buddy! I can never get anyone to come along with me.

  11. I absolutely adore the floral mirror and mustard chair. I can't wait to be in my own place so I can start buying things for our future home, we have absolutely no where to put anything - anything big at least. I love the mustard chair for instance but my boyfriend definitely would not, he hates the color yellow, he'd probably say something like "over my dead body" if I tried to put it in our place. You find some amazing things thrifting, I wish I had a thrifting buddy near me.

    1. I have way too much stuff for the space I live in now. But I like to think ahead and I have a bad thrifting addiction. Haha, I am not sure how my boyfriend feels about the chair...but we don't live together so I suppose it doesn't bother him at the moment. I wish I had a thrifting buddy near me too. It would be so much fun.

I have the same problem of purchasing outlandish thrift store finds. I have this white ceramic unicorn statue that I thrifted years ago... it's taken up residence in our garage. It's ridiculous!

I too love that mustard coloured chair.

    1. Haha. Two of the places by my house are insanely cheap and they are my go to shops. It is harder to find quality items, but I like the challenge.

  22. Aww. I have a mirror very similar to yours! I have painted it red, white, mint, and just yesterday I spray painted it white again. Haha.

And I can see why everyone loves that chair. It's awesome!
