Thrifted Thursdays - It's a small world

Hi all! How is your Thursday going? I am still at home taking care of Sweetpea, so thrifting will have to be pushed back a bit. I did take some photos of past thrifted treasures however. Enjoy!

Little House on the Prairie? I found this dress awhile back and thought I would try it on for the first time yesterday...I kind of like it. I am not so sure it is practical for every day wear, but it sure is nice to wear barefoot on a sunny day. I really like how it buttons up the side, and all of the ruffles!! I might start selling my thrifted finds...it is getting out of control. Would you rock the prairie look?

Take a gander at these lovely ladies!! Peter Pan collar anyone? I picked them up in Florida two years ago. Florida has the best thrift stores, hands down. I have the original boxes as well, but for some reason they are at my apartment and the bottles are at my moms? Anywho, they are shampoo, bubble bath, and lotion from 1970. This promotion from Avon had girls of varying size from all around the world. They were created for "almost grown-up little girls." I completely forgot about these until I was looking through my closet the other day. I want to collect them all. Dun, dun, dunnn...

Have you thrifted anything wonderful lately? Own any Avon small world girls? I would love to hear about it. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

    1. They were quite the thrift store score. I thought it was slightly weird buying used product bottles but they are so cute! And thank you!!

  4. When I was in Florida recently I noticed the abundance of thrift stores and I did not stop into a single one, I'm totally kicking myself for it. I knew my boyfriend would probably pout the whole time so I didn't think to ask to stop at one, boo at me. I like the prairie look, and it's funny that I do because it is such the opposite of my usual look. The little small world avon ladies are adorables, I had never heard of them before.

    1. Aw man! That stinks. My boyfriend would probably be bored after about 10 minutes if I dragged him along, haha. Thank you. It is a slightly strange look but I don't hate it. I had never heard of them before I found them at the store but I am so glad I scooped them up :]

  11. I had never seen those Avon girls before and I love them!! I like the one in the green peter pan collar best, but there's also one on the box that looks like a Texas girl! hehe She's super cute.
I love the Prairie look!! I've rocked my own version of a prairie look and I love it. Makes me definitely think of Little House. I think with a little tailoring you could make that dress look perfect on you, because it's sooo pretty you shouldn't sale that one! My favorite part is the ruffled sleeves! Although, I can totally see you making money off your finds....to keep or to sale...either way, you're winning. :)

    1. I had never seen them before spotting them at the thrift store. I think the cowgirl must be from Texas. I think that is actually the one I own in white but it may be missing the pieces? I can't remember what her box looked like. I will have to investigate when I get home. I totally agree with you and shortening the dress a bit. I will have to play around with it and see what length I like it at. Haha. We will see. It is just that my closet is getting out of hand.

  12. I've heard Florida has good thirft stores! Maybe bc all the old people that retire there? That dress is pretty cute. I bet it would look good if you shortened it!

    1. I definitely think that is why. I told my boyfriend that and he got all weirded out, haha. They have some great stuff though, definitely vintage :] Thank you! I definitely will look in to shortening it.

  15. I want those Avon small world girls. I may be emailing you on these great thrift stores in Florida and if they are near Orlando. My husband lives there and I am going for a week in April. I want to find asome things like this.

    1. Eeep! I am not entirely sure which stores they were, or exactly where they were. We were visiting some family for my mothers birthday. I will ask her tomorrow where they lived - haha, it is sad I don't remember. We were only there for the weekend and didn't go out much aside from the thrift stores. I would imagine that there are plenty around Orlando though! I will get back to you on this.

  16. For some reason, it strikes me as odd that Florida has good thrift stores. I'd imagine them to be kind of strangely bad since it's mostly a tourist attraction. I'll have to tell my sister because she lives there and has never gone thrifting.

    1. I think they have a lot of good stuff due to the fact that a lot of people retire there. With that they bring good stuff :] The places I went to were similar to the salvation army and I am sure it is pretty hit or miss, but it seemed like there was one every few blocks. I would definitely tell her to keep her eyes peeled :] It may also depend on the area. I was visiting family outside of the touristy spots.

  17. I've seen those little Avon girls before! They're adorable! And I LOVE the print on that dress. Totally would do the prairie look. As a matter of fact I've got the perfect prairie boots to go with your dress. All we need now is to find a sweet little bonnet : )

  18. Such adorable finds! You look stunning in the dress, and I would so rock the prairie dress as well, but I haven't yet come across one... and the 70's Avon girls are an awesome, vintage find! Lucky you!!! :)
    Good luck!

  19. Oh my word. How cute are those Avon bubble baths and lotions!? Lucky girl to have those. I never get to thrift anything since we have to go about a half hour/an hour away for thrift/antique stores.
