Set Sail

Hi all! How's it going? The week seems to be speeding by. --Aren't post intros awkward?-- I feel forced to comment on the week every time...it gets old fast. So let's just scratch what I just said. Eeeep!!

Last night Brian and I watched The Hunger Games. I was surprised he actually volunteered to watch it. I think he kind of liked it :] I still need to read the books! I know, what have I been doing with my free time!?! I thrifted the first book about a month back, I just need to sit down and take the time to actually crack it open now...

Alrighty - WARNING: This outfit shows a bit of skin. You have been warned.
I thrifted this nautical crop top(?) last weekend. Now I am not one to show of my midriff...but I had a $10 coupon to this specific thrift store and they wouldn't let me buy my items unless I spent the entire $10. This sounds like it shouldn't be hard at all but their items are ridiculously cheap. Anywho, coming up two dollars short I added this item to the pile and thought I would give it a go...

Outfit Details: Top - Thrifted | Jeans - American Eagle | Shoes - DSW.

(Please excuse the oil stain on my jeans...forgot to shout it out in the last wash, haha) While I will probably never wear this look out in public - in theory it is cute (I think?). I like the fun pattern on the top, and the tied bottom gives it a fun pin-up sort of feel - especially paired with my new heels.

Are you brave enough to rock cropped tops in public?

  1. My boyfriend did the same thing! I was so excited to finally not watch a movie haha. And i reallyyy like this shirt. But if you feel like it's too skin showing, try pairing it with high waisted shorts or an A Line skirt :)

    1. Haha. I was so surprised he ended up liking it too. Thanks. And thank you for the tips! I need to look in to finding some highwaisted shorts :]

  2. We watched the Hunger Games last night too! I wish I had read the books first, but I just haven't gotten around to it. We both thought it was pretty good, although I hate having to wait for the next movie to come out. I need to know what happens!

  5. Cute top! I would never feel comfortable enough to wear something like that though, especially with post baby stretch marks all over my belly. Not cute! Maybe I could wear something like that with a longer tank under it.

    1. I think I will definitely wear it again out and about with a tank under it next time :]

  6. Woooweee! Look at you! Total babe status!
I was gonna say, "Major kudos for wearing this in public!" I honestly just can't. Even if I worked out my abs every day for a year. Nope. Not even. Putting up that picture of the two piece the other day was something I was like, "Should I or shouldn't I", going back n forth and whatnot. I think I've only gotten shyer with my body the older I've gotten. Sometimes I get balls though. Sometimes. This outfit I would probably wear to my bar though. But I would have had to been pregaming before I went there first. Lol. You look great though, Allison! You honestly have nothing to worry about! Like, for real. Maybe the cropped top would be less intimidating to wear in public if you paired it with some really high waisted jeans or harem pants. I do like that I can see a bit of your tattoo!! :)

    P.s. First paragraph = why you're so cute. :D

    1. Ha. Thank you. I was so nervous to put these up.

Yeah, no way jose. I am not that brave. My neighbors probably think I am crazy though. You looked so cute in the two piece - you should show it off while you can! Haha. Ok, that sounds weird. But I hope you get what I am saying. We are only young once. Hahaha. I am sure I would wear this out too after a drink or two. Thank you Roni. I definitely think high waisted jeans or something similar is a must for cropped tops. I just need to finally purchase a pair. Haha. I think that this top is the only item I own that shows off my tattoo.

Haha. I do ramble a lot in person and via the blog :]

  7. Definitely a cute casual pin up look, love it, and you've got the figure to be able to wear it in public :)
I wish I didn't feel so self conscious wearing crop tops out, I just feel like it shows if I eat something, haha! Xx

  9. Super cute! I feel the same way about crop tops too, but I usually pair it up with a high waist skirt or pants to even it out and show less skin. I get super self conscious! You definitely look like a pin up girl, these photos are great <3

  15. You look so cute, you can definitely pull off the bare midriff look. Whenever you talk about thrifting it makes me want to run out (even at 3AM) and go thrifttting.

  19. Oooh I love Brittany's idea of wearing the top over a dress! I love crop tops but definitely only do the high-waisted thing with it. I wore the crap out of a pair of black high-waisted skinnys from UO. Gotta get more of those. Instasexy! : )

    That top=AWESOME! You=BABE.

  23. I just watched The Hunger Games a couple of nights ago too but I'd seen it before. There's nothing wrong with showing a little skin especially if it's midriff and not butt cheeks or overflowing cleavage ;)
