Wicker Park

Hi all! I am seriously loving how fast this week is flying by :] Anywhoooooo... as I told you all yesterday - I spent Sunday roaming around the city taking new headshots of my brother and taking some of my own photos along the way. It was such a beautiful day - warm, sunny, and the sunset was oh so pretty - perfect photo taking essentials. I wanted to show my brother where I worked so we wandered around my part of town. There are so many cool shops I still need to visit, I just haven't had the free time - yet. I will be sure to share them all as soon as I do though. I have spotted so many good thrift stores on my drive to and from work.

I need to move to the city already!! The two hour (each way) commute is starting to effect my mental health. Aside from that though - Chicago is so beautiful! I can't wait until I have enough money too afford a brownstone home. Until then your typical low end city apartment will do, haha :] Going about finding a room mate is a bit scary though. Any tips?

Outfit details: Dress - Kohls | Top - gifted from gifted from a blog bestie :] | Bag - Thrifted | Pin - Great Grandma's | Shoes - Urban Outfitters.

I am really liking this new outfit. I bought the dress from Kohls for work a few weeks ago but hadn't worn it until the other day. It needed a pop of something to give it some life/ make it more me. I remembered the cute top that Roni had gifted me (thank you again!) - and viola!! It helped add a retro feel while covering my shoulders. I love finding new outfit combos that have been sitting in my closet all along - wahooo. I can't wait to wear this number to work!

Hope you all are having a great day!

  1. I love Wicker Park!!! I was there earlier this year and scored some awesome macarons. Did you get to hit up the cool vinyl toy shop? If you end up moving to Chicago….then we will DEFINITELY have to meet up.

    1. Wicker Park is a whole lot of fun. That is so awesome! I need to look for some now. I haven't hit up the toy store just yet. It is near my brother's apartment, so I need to go soon.

We definitely will have to meet up! It will be so much fun :] I hope I move to the city soon.

  3. I am loving this outfit and the city looks gorgeous! I love how you layered the lacy top under the bright blue dress. A two hour commute each way does NOT sound fun at all though! I hope you're having a beautiful day!

  8. Those photos are beautiful, and I am loving that blue dress on you!

I've always wanted to live in a big city. There's just something about it. I'd definitely move though if I had to travel 2 hours just to get to work. Ick!

  9. You and your hair are setting some majorly high BABE levels, my dear! I just lurve you in this outfit. I can't even say it enough. Blue and your red hair are just a match made in heaven. And I didn't even know that was the blouse until I read it. I thought it was all one dress - you are a creative little booger ;) hahah that was mean. But in a nice way.
Wicker Park looks so awesome! Like from the movie!! Right? I used to love that movie. The scenery looks so pretty...or maybe it was all Josh Harnett? Either way, it looks like a fun town to explore.
I'm sorry your drive is wearing you down. I don't miss that at all! I think I told you I used to have to drive an hour each way when I worked in Vegas but gah, I couldn't even imagine adding an additional two hours to that commute! You poor thing. You are in my thoughts for sending good vibes to. I hope something works itself out to be in your best interest.
As far as a roommate...the only tip I have is to not go on Craigslist..unless you want to die. HAHAH j/k I've always roomed up with a close friend.
Good vibes going your way, hun! Lots of love and hugs xo

    1. Hahaha. Thanks lady! Ha. I will take that as a compliment, no worries.

Haha. I am assuming it is? I have only seen it once and that was a long time ago. Haha. I am sure Josh Harnett made the scenery that much better. It is a really fun place to walk around. There is always something new going on.

Thank you so much!!! I want to move so badly, but at the same time I really need to save up. I just try to zone out on my commute and not focus on it any more.

Hahahaha. Yeah, I don't want to meet the next Craigslist killer. I am just having a hard time finding a friend that can move at the moment.

Thank you :] It really means a lot <3

i can imagine the stress you're getting from that long commute. also used to experience that in my old job before and it was exhausting. i got tired from commuting even before starting any job done for the day.

Yikes. Yeah, I am in that boat right now. I chose this though, so I will have to make it through. I want to end up in the city anyways, so I guess this is just a push in the right direction.

  13. I can't believe you commute two hours each way! If you're looking for a roommate I'd suggest finding a friend or friend of a friend to move in with. I'd be hesitant to move in with a stranger too. Love the dress and I hope you're having a great weekend :)

  16. You're in my old hood! I used to live on North Ave, a block past six corners-- best summer of my life! There's some pretty decent priced apartments in that area if you can find some people to live with. I lived with one guy I knew and then two randoms that turned out fine.

Ugh, WP though... that's a really great place to be twenty-one in.
