A little about me

me

Hi all! I feel like lately all I have been posting are outfits, thrift finds, and links to fun stuff. While that is all good and dandy I feel like I have given up my voice slightly in the process. When I started this blog I had no clue what direction I wanted to take it in, the possibilities are endless, but I think I am starting to get in to the groove of things. However, I feel like I should interject some of my life into the mix from time to time. So today I thought I would tell you a little bit about me to get you caught up or acquainted. You may not care, who knows...I just feel like rambling honestly. So here are three random facts about me...

r.i.

1.) I was born in Rhode Island - the smallest state in the U.S.A. My entire extended family still live out there and we visit every few years. I miss the ocean so much. Chicagoland is great and all but it lacks the hills, trees, and WAVES. I miss the small things like eating clamcakes (google them - YUM!) and walking on the beach.

2.) I have been fortunate enough to travel to - England, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, China, Japan, Canada, Hawaii, St.Thomas, and across parts of the U.S. . I hope to one day make it to Egypt - that would be my dream destination. I want to see the pyramids more than anything.

3.) My mom and I are very into meeting celebrities. I have met Ellen Degeneres - and have been to her show twice. The first time she flew a group of us out of Chicago to L.A. to film a Chicago show. It was incredible. She paid for the plane tickets, our hotel The Roosevelt, her crew took us out bowling, and she gave us Ellen Undies! On top of that I got to shake her hand and take a picture with her during a commercial break. It was awesome! The second time was last spring. My mom had won tickets so we flew out and made a trip of it. I got to dance with Ellen for a second too :] Needless to say we LOVE Ellen.

I jumped on Orlando Bloom's car in England. Alright that is complete over dramatization of what happened but it sounds more fun. My mom and I saw his play, In Celebration, and met a wild lady from the Netherlands who had been to the play 5 times because she was obsessed with him - yikes! Anywho, she knew where he came out after the show and told us - not creepy at all. So we checked it out after the show and there he was about to get in his car/signing autographs. So I aggressively leaned over the trunk to get an autograph. He was really nice.

And then there was Johnny. Johnny Depp of course! That is a blurry pic of him above. He was filming Public Enemies in a theater nearby my hometown so my mother and I decided to go and check it out. Three hours in the rain later I got to shake his hand!! I told him I loved his work, he looked into my eyes and said "thanks love". We totally had a moment.

Now that you all think I am a crazed celeb stalker...

4.) I LOVE Halloween. I go all out for it. I am excited for this October to roll around so that I can share with you guys some fun DIY Halloween costumes. In the mean time, here is pea as a banana split :] She was so ashamed.

I planned on posting more facts but I feel like this is TMI for one afternoon. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

    1. Haha. My mom is so good at finding the celebs and I am her accomplice. Sweetpea was so sad in the costume. She went into "loaf" mode - meaning her body went limp and she wasn't moving an inch haha.

  5. I am a celeb stalker as well I love it! If you came to my house and went to the toilet you would see a collage of celeb's that I have met.

  6. You are so lucky to have met so many celebrities! I've never really met any celebrities. I've met the lead singers from Grand Ole Party and Semi Precious Weapons respectively. aaand when i was nine I went to Europe and shared an elevator with Chayanne (a latin artist my mom was really into haha). Not very interesting at all lol.

    1. Thanks but hey, that is still something! My mom always hears about the celeb stuff and then we go out to find them. It is one thing to just bump in to a celeb - which is awesome! And another to wait in a long line like we have.

  7. I love the celebrity encounter stories, I've never really met a famous person, once I saw a news anchor and he kinda hit on me - it was odd. What a lucky gal getting to travel all around, I've only been to Niagara Falls and various places in the states. P.S - Halloween is the bestest.

  12. I have never met anyone from rhode Island before! I can cross it off my list now. I am a firm believer that a place doesn't exist until you have been there or met someone who lives there. This leads to a few non-existant states and a lot of fake countries in my book, but I'm okay with it.

  20. Such fun facts!
And wow, you've met quite a few awesome celebrities. I have met some (mostly only famous in certain circles, like Andrew Bird and Ryan Shaw) musicians as I love going to concerts, and happened to meet Neil Gaiman during his wife's gig once:D Also, David Sedaris after one of his shows. But never a movie star.

I am Dutch haha, though not that obsessed, but I have to agree that there is something about meeting someone you admire, or even just recognize haha, in person.

Also, I hope you get to visit Egypt! I've never been there either. We seem to have quite a lot of destinations in common though;)

    1. That is so cool that you have met those musicians! They are equally as exciting to meet. It is just fun to see the people you see on the tv screen or listen to in person to know that, yes they are real!

      :]

  24. Yeah, I'm a crazy person about celebs too and I am so TOTALLY jealous you got to meet Johnny. Wow, that's just awesome. The superbowl was here in my hometown Indy this week and A LOT of celebs were in town. Johnny Depp was staying in a hotel about 20 minutes from me as well as Brad Pitt. Then on the other side of town some friends spotted Will Smith and Adam Sandler eating lunch at a dairy queen. This whole weekend has felt like a vaca in Hollywood. Seriously, it's so weird to see all these celebs in your own backyard. I got to see Taylor Lautner on Thursday and I also saw like 10 football players (The only one I recognized was Jerry Rice :P) so yeah…..I know the celeb feeling.

OMG, I am freakin' so jealous of your fun with Ellen!!!! I'm jelly of you being that close to Orlando AND Johnny...and I totally hate that y'all had a moment. I've loved Johnny Depp since I was a baby.
And wow, you've seriously done more traveling than I probably ever will. You are a lucky duck. You've had a wonderful life. :)
