11 Things

Last week I was tagged by the lovely Jessa of Confessions of the Cupcake Countessa to take part in the 11 things post. Since it is Sunday, and I don't have much to report from this weekend (other than my Stylish Surprises from Modcloth), I thought I would give it a go.

There are 5 rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things
3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post
4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them
5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you've tagged them

11 Random Things
1. I am afraid to dance. Most people love to shake their groove thangs - and don't get me wrong, I have danced - I am absolutely terrified of it however.

2. If I am home more likely than not I am in a pair of pjs. I like to be comfy, what can I say?

3. I have a dent in my forehead due to shingles (I blurred it out in the picture above). I got shingles on my face over a year ago and it nearly ended up in my eye. OUCH. Unfortunately they only give the vaccination to senior citizens.

4. I talk to my dog. Literally, full on conversations while we are out and about walking. I am that crazy dog lady.

5. I am terrified of heights. I can't even stand next to the banister on the top floor of the mall.

6. I eat cookies like it is my job. Oreos are banned from the apartment.

7. I graduated Cum Laude.

8. One of my all time favorite tv shows growing up was H.R. PufNstuf reruns. Jack Wild was just too cute.

9. I still haven't mastered the art of wearing high heels. Why wear something that hurts you?

10. I have been to the highest peak in Germany (the Zugspitze).

11. 11 is my lucky number since it is my birthday.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Questions from Jessa:
1. What is your favorite flower?
Peonies

2. Who is your style crush?
Carrie Mulligan

3. What is your favorite commercial?
Umm... I am not sure. I don't watch much t.v. since we don't have cable.

4. If you could change your name what would it be?
Penelope or Olive - My future children's names ;]

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
An Anesthesiologist (they put you to sleep before a surgery). I kid you not. I did a science project in 7th grade about it and won first place.

6. What is your current goal?
Finding a job.

7. What is your worst habit?
Eating when I am bored, orrrr apologizing for everything.

8. Why did you start blogging?
I started out with livejournal in middle school and got hooked on being connected to a larger community. I also had xanga, myspace, facebook, tumblr, and now here I am. I had been reading others blogs for quite some time and loved that it was a creative outlet. I also love designing layouts...so it was a win-win situation for me.

9. How did you come up with your blog's name?
I spent two months trying to come up with a name. One day my roommate and I were walking home and I told her I was having a difficult time with it. Off the top of her head she blurted out ShyScout. As soon as she said it I knew that was what is was supposed to be.

10. What is your blogging pet peeve?
Posts that go on way too long. I am guilty of this too (take a gander at this post for example) but am trying to work on it. It isn't that I don't want to read all of it - just break it up into a few posts, or work on being more concise. ALSO DON'T SPAM MY BLOG! I hate one sentence comments that say "cute blog, you have a new follower...please follow me back in return." Every so often it is genuine, but you can usually tell right away when it is not.

11. Who is your blogger crush?
Katie from Skunkboy Creatures. She has the cutest page, content, and style.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will not be passing this along, mainly because it seems that it has been passed on to so many of you. Also, it is the beginning of the week and I know you are all busy bees. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. I will see you all tomorrow!

  9. I fully support wearing PJs, not wearing heels, and talking to dogs! And yes, Carey Mulligan is just hands down amazing.

  13. Love the list, dancing can definitely be hard to do, I usually have to have a little liquid courage to dance but once I get going I have a good time. I'm also in at home pajama addict, almost the minute I get home I am in my pajamas, I love PJ's. My boyfriend jokes about it actually, I have a few t-shirts that are my absolute favorite and I think he cringes every time he sees me in them. I'm so sorry to hear about the shingles, sounds awful, I have a scar on my forehead from busting my head open and sometimes I feel self conscious about it. Hehe aww, I talk to my pets too, well I use voices that I have for them and everything so I'm that crazy lady too.

I couldn't agree more about the heels and I dream of traveling to Germany one day, crossing my fingers I'll get to go one day.

    1. Liquid courage can help, haha. But I could NEVER dance without it. I am glad so many people wear there pjs as soon as they get home! Wahoo. Life is better when you are comfy. Ouch! I busted my chin open once, not fun. Haha. I vary my voice when I talk to my dog too.

I hope you get to Germany one day! It was my favorite place in Europe. It is so beautiful and the people are so friendly :]

When I had my pet cat, Keeks, I used to talk to him ALL THE TIME.

    1. Thanks. I am definitely using Olive or Oliver if I have a child.
I am glad I am not the only one who talks to my pets, haha.

  16. Aahhh there's so much I want to write! We are pretty much twins. I am scared of dancing too, I think I can do it pretty well when I'm by myself but I purposely make myself look like a douche when I dance in front of people haha. And I also have been known to spend whole days (weeks even) in my pyjamas. Ohh yeah, it's the only way to be. One sentence comments annoy me too - once I got a comment that said "nice dress" when I wasn't even wearing a dress at the time. WHAT. I loved reading these facts about you!

    1. Lmao @ Kirsten's nice dress comment!! I'm actually lol'ing from this side of the comment you're reading, Allison. :) I haaaate spam comments. And I too have received one that complimented me on something I wasn't wearing or didn't talk about, hell I can't remember. I just remember going,"wait WHAT?" too. Oh the annoyances in the blog world. Also, my problem is that I talk way too long. I told "everyone" in like my 1st or 2nd post ever that I'd try to work on it. Ha! Not so much.
Also, I too am deathly afraid of heights. I however enjoy dancing even if I perhaps suck, I obvs love wearing heels (didn't always though!), I'm the biggest cookie monster (perhaps we can have a cookie-off one day?), and my favorite animal convos are with my cat. That little guy talks I tell you! :) I love reading these. Doing them is another story ;)

    2. Kristen - Ahaha. I am too afraid to even dance alone - it's weird. I have spent weeks in my pjs too - over school breaks of course (I love being a pj hermit). Ugh! The worst. It is so obvious what the are doing - with or without the "please follow me back" at the end.

Roni - Haha, I did lol at Kirsten's comment. I should start calling people out for being blog jerks. Also, it's so hard to cut down on what you want to say. I sit and think about how to cut it down and only end up deleting a word or two. Yikes.
I'd love a cookie-off one day! I have never put my cookie eating talents to the test yet. Sweetpea talks back too! She makes these weird grunts and snorts when I talk to her and no other time. Haha, it is tough getting these "about me posts" actually done. They are good fillers though for days when you don't feel like you have much to say.

  17. I use to love H.R. Pufnstuf!!! like oh my gawd! haha and high heels don't hurt girl, you just have to break them in. :)
oh and another thing...those are my future kids' names! haha :)

    1. Haha. Loved that show and the magical flute :] I have a bunch of heels but am awful with pain. I bought a new pair yesterday though and was able to wear them out all night! Wahoo - progress.

      Haha. Those names are great!

  18. I'm afraid of heights, too! (Although I'm from Austria ... "this tiny mountain country') 8)

I once had a haircut like Mulligan, then a pixie cut and now I'm growing it out again. I'm easily bored if it comes to my hair...

    1. Oh boy. Mountains are beautiful but being on the side of one makes me all shaky.

I get bored with my hair quickly too! I have finally grown out my bob and have colored it a million colors since then.

  19. The first thing I do when I get home is put on my pjs, I never understand people who stay in their jeans at home all day... I thought it was only me.

    1. Haha. Well you are not alone. Jeans are too constricting!

  20. I don't wear heels either! They hurt so badly. :( I can only stand wedges.

And dancing is the best; it's a shame you don't like to! I think I'm pretty awful at it but I have no shame. ;P

I've seen this thing go around a bit, so I think I may steal it. I love learning things about people. :)
