Thrifted Thursday - Doll collection

As you all know I have a weakness when it comes to collecting dolls. The stranger they are the better in my book. I definitely don't need them, but when they come with a thrift store price tag I can't say no. Is there anything you can't turn down when thrifting? Anywho, over the past month or so I have added three more
gems to my collection...

This cute doll was a carnival prize from the 50's. I instantly fell in love with his big eyes, bow tie, and goofy plaid hat. I found him while thrifting on this excursion but turned him down due to his price tag. I went back about a month later and his price was reduced - on top of that I had a coupon worth $20 at the store so he ended up being free :] That is what I call a deal.

The other weekend when I purchased my cute plaid coat I also found two dolls calling my name.

I had seen these dolls before in various outfits on thrifting excursions but they usually were slightly out of my price range (I don't like to spend more than $10 on an item typically while thrifting). I had to have these two when I saw their $3 price tags. I have a problem, haha, I know. Do any of you have dolls like these in your collection?

I really need to work on giving stuff away rather than taking more stuff in. This weekend I hope to sift through all of my things so that I can throw a garage sale the following weekend. Wish me luck! I hope you all are having a beautiful Thursday! Any exciting plans for the weekend?

  1. He is too cute and free is always awesome. Good luck going through your stuff this weekend. Garage sales are a lot of work but it's so nice when you clear out stuff you don't need!

    1. Haha, I am glad I am not alone. That is awesome that you collect globes! I haven't come across many unfortunately while thrifting :-/ I am sure that they must take up quite a bit of space.

    1. Thank you so much! I had them all on a bookshelf devoted entirely to my toys, but since I moved they are all displaced. Once I get a new place I will figure out a new way to display them.

  14. So amused by the expression of the doll in the first photo, I think that's the look I give my students in class when they're doing something I disapprove of.Rx

    1. :] I found the coolest pair of raybans for 10 cents - it was an awesome thrift find for sure. That is really cool that you collect them. Once I get unpacked I really need to get my whole collection together and snap a shot.

  19. I LOVE YOUR DOLLS. Pretty much everything you collect is cool. I don't even have the space otherwise I would be collecting Barbie Dolls. :) I love the Barbie Collectibles. Especially that tattooed Barbie - I want her baaad!
The 50's doll seriously made me do a puppy dog face when I saw it the first time, but here now, ugh, I wish I could find something like that! I go thrifting at least every other week now (thanks to you! really, thanks) to see what's out there. I don't always get lucky, but man o' man it feels like you REALLY hit the jack pot! I can't believe that little guy was free! And those lovely ladies were only $3! INSANE! haha Don't mind me, I'm just hatin'. :)
I need to get out and check what's been updated at my thrift shop tomorrow!
