As you all know I have a weakness when it comes to collecting dolls. The stranger they are the better in my book. I definitely don't need them, but when they come with a thrift store price tag I can't say no. Is there anything you can't turn down when thrifting? Anywho, over the past month or so I have added three more
gems to my collection...
This cute doll was a carnival prize from the 50's. I instantly fell in love with his big eyes, bow tie, and goofy plaid hat. I found him while thrifting on this excursion but turned him down due to his price tag. I went back about a month later and his price was reduced - on top of that I had a coupon worth $20 at the store so he ended up being free :] That is what I call a deal.
The other weekend when I purchased my cute plaid coat I also found two dolls calling my name.
I had seen these dolls before in various outfits on thrifting excursions but they usually were slightly out of my price range (I don't like to spend more than $10 on an item typically while thrifting). I had to have these two when I saw their $3 price tags. I have a problem, haha, I know. Do any of you have dolls like these in your collection?
I really need to work on giving stuff away rather than taking more stuff in. This weekend I hope to sift through all of my things so that I can throw a garage sale the following weekend. Wish me luck! I hope you all are having a beautiful Thursday! Any exciting plans for the weekend?
He is too cute and free is always awesome. Good luck going through your stuff this weekend. Garage sales are a lot of work but it's so nice when you clear out stuff you don't need!
ReplyDelete:] Free is always awesome. Thank you. Unfortunately I didn't get as far as I had hoped this weekend but hope to make more progress with it this week.
Deletenora collects ugly/creepy dolls...some of them aren't that ugly, though! and me, i collect globes. i think i am to the point where i need to stop buying them (unless i see the perfect one)!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I am glad I am not alone. That is awesome that you collect globes! I haven't come across many unfortunately while thrifting :-/ I am sure that they must take up quite a bit of space.
Deletethat's a really great idea - i've never gone thrifting for my cllection (shot glasses...havent bought one in years though)
ReplyDeleteI am sure you could find some pretty wild ones while thrifting!
DeleteThose last two dolls are so pretty! I don't really collect anything though I'm quite tempted haha
ReplyDeleteHaha. Warning: it is addictive. I really like the last two dolls because of their eyes :]
DeleteFree is a great price! We are having a garage sale next month. Way too much stuff just sitting around!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Best of luck with your garage sale!! It is so nice to get space back and make some $ in the process :]
DeleteI want to see your entire collection!
ReplyDelete:] I need to get them all together.
DeleteThe last 2 dollars are beautiful! I have a few dolls.

Thank you! Blythe are still my favorite as well :]
DeleteOh my, those were a deal! I'd have bought them too! :) They're so cute!
ReplyDelete:] I just couldn't resist!
DeleteYou have a really cool doll collection! How do you display them all?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I had them all on a bookshelf devoted entirely to my toys, but since I moved they are all displaced. Once I get a new place I will figure out a new way to display them.
DeleteThose are gorgeous - I especially love the carnival 1950s doll - I bet that as a history to tell!
ReplyDeleteThank you! He is one of my favorites. I wish they still had prizes like him at carnivals.
DeleteI love your blog and all your outfit pictures :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteSo amused by the expression of the doll in the first photo, I think that's the look I give my students in class when they're doing something I disapprove of.Rx

ReplyDeleteHope you're having a nice weekend!

ReplyDeleteKAIIWONG
:] I found the coolest pair of raybans for 10 cents - it was an awesome thrift find for sure. That is really cool that you collect them. Once I get unpacked I really need to get my whole collection together and snap a shot.
DeleteI LOVE YOUR DOLLS. Pretty much everything you collect is cool. I don't even have the space otherwise I would be collecting Barbie Dolls. :) I love the Barbie Collectibles. Especially that tattooed Barbie - I want her baaad!
ReplyDeleteThe 50's doll seriously made me do a puppy dog face when I saw it the first time, but here now, ugh, I wish I could find something like that! I go thrifting at least every other week now (thanks to you! really, thanks) to see what's out there. I don't always get lucky, but man o' man it feels like you REALLY hit the jack pot! I can't believe that little guy was free! And those lovely ladies were only $3! INSANE! haha Don't mind me, I'm just hatin'. :)
I need to get out and check what's been updated at my thrift shop tomorrow!
