Yesterday it was absolutely gorgeous in my neck of the woods. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and my flowers and veggies were starting to sprout! While I spent the majority of the day working on projects (I made a pretty cool tshirt design for a friend!), I took some time to enjoy the weather as the sun began to set.
I had my brother tag along and play photographer. I think he did a pretty awesome job! Sure beats using the tripod in the backyard. Tomorrow (today I suppose - I write my posts a day ahead of time) we want to head back and take some more head shots for him to take to auditions. I also plan to wake up at the crack of dawn to get my fitness on and bike a few miles *wish me luck!
My brother got the lead this summer in Footloose at the theatre he is working for. I am pretty darn excited about it. Surprisingly I have never seen the movie...yikes! I should probably change that before I see his version. Any Footloose fans out there?
Outfit Details: Dress - Dorothy Perkins | Bag - Kohls | Sandals - Forever 21 | Bracelet - thrifted | Ring - thrifted | Necklace - Forever 21.
Serious question: How old is too old for pig tails? I feel like so long as they aren't above your ears it is socially acceptable? Maybe not... I am in desperate need for new hair styling tips. I don't think my hair has been this long since 4th grade. I haven't cut it in nearly two years! Anywho, hope you all are having a wonderful day :]
*** If you haven't done so already, please enter my $50 gift card giveaway to Shabby apple! The giveaway ends June 1st. Good luck! ***
I'm loving this outfit. It's so summery and bright. Very dainty, and the owl necklace is adorable!

See sometimes pigtails can look really right on me and then the next time I look like a girl playing dress up.
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are great - the lighting in them is lovely!
I think it just depends on the day and the outfit :]
DeleteThank you! It was such a pretty day.
love this outfit. you totally rock those pigtails.
ReplyDeletealso love that lake, its beautiful.
k
Thank you so much! It was such a nice day. The lake was beautiful.
DeleteI love the outfit!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think pigtails after a certain age can only be used sparingly & at home. =/ I think you look cute, though!
Oh & if you watch the movie, watch the original. I despise remakes & I hate that they're re-doing Dirty Dancing. =(
Thank you!
DeleteI agree. I only wore my hair like this for the photos. I get too self conscious.
I would definitely stick with the original :] I can't believe they are redoing Dirty Dancing - yikes!!
i agree with you on the above the ears thing. they look great on you!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you :] I still feel a wee bit iffy about em. Haha.
DeleteGirl you need to trim your hair every 2 months at least!!! But you look great! I love your entire outfit. And personally im not a huge fan of pigtails but they don't look bad on you :)
ReplyDeleteUghhh. I know, I know!! I am sorry. It is really bad. I just keep putting it off. I think I am afraid.
DeleteThanks. I don't really wear them out and about but I wanted to try something different.
Gorgeous pictures, especially the top one. The colour of the skirt is goooorgeous, as is the colour of your hair! And you're never too old for pigtails, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise ;) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I was actually wearing a dress - pretty tricky i know :] Haha, thanks.
DeletePrettttty!
ReplyDelete:]
DeleteI remember bits from Footloose it's been so long. You should watch it!
ReplyDeletePigtails look great on you! Very beautiful dress
♥
I need to find it. The Blockbuster closed by my house and redbox only has the new one - wah, wahhh.
DeleteThank you :]
I have what seems to be the most disagreed with opinion on Footloose. I liked the remake way better!
ReplyDeleteHaha. I may have to rent both and watch them back to back.
DeleteReally loving that skirt - so pretty! And the pig tails look awesome on you :)

The Other Side of Gray
Thanks lady!
Deletei actually thought that dress was a skirt and tank at first, but then i read the info. i love dresses like that because it's easy to trick people ;)
ReplyDelete:] A few people have commented on the "skirt". I like that this outfit is tricky, haha.
DeleteLovely outfit! Oddly enough I've never seen Footloose either(I've had the dvd for years though). And I am with you on the pig tails rule;)

Oh man! You need to put it in and watch it. I am having a hard time tracking down the original. Thanks :]
DeleteI love that dress it's adorable :) I love white lace with coral/red!
ReplyDeleteAnd YAY for the fact that your brother got that part! It sounds exciting! :)
Thank you so much! I can't wait to see him in it :] He already has it memorized and it doesn't open until July.
DeleteAbsolutely darling!

Oh, how I missed your blog!
ReplyDeleteOkay:
1. I LOVE you in this dress. It's such a lovely twofer!
2. You are still within the appropriate age bracket to wear pigtails. I'm a few (or even several) years older than you and I'll still rock the crap out of them with no fear or shame. I think once your boobs are sagging to the floor, it's time to give it up. <--Eep! That too harsh? Otherwise I see some gals older than me wearing them and it's still really cute and whimsical.
3. I've only seen the 80's Footloose, not the new one. I refuse to watch the new one. I wasn't too big of a fan of the movie as a whole, but I think that's because back then, the best dancing movie to me was Dirty Dancing. So in my little head I picked one over the other and Footloose lost. BUT, I'm sure your brother will do a killer job and could make me like his theaters rendition of it. :)
4. I have two necklaces similar to yours. I love big ol' owl necklaces. They go with everything!
5. I love your hair length, but I'm also a sucker for long hair. You know, I go to this site called Hollywood makeover on Instyle or something and look at all the hair colors and styles when I'm feeling bored with my do. There's just all these pics of celebrity hair styles that you can put on your own head after you upload a picture. Maybe that'll give you some inspiration? If you haven't heard of it already of course. :)
I missed you lady!!
DeleteThank you so much :] Haha. I didn't realize so many people would think that it was separate pieces, but thats pretty cool.
Hahaha. It works until you don't feel comfortable any more ;]
I could definitely see how that would happen. I love Dirty Dancing. Thankfully I haven't seen it in awhile. Thanks. I can't wait to see it!
I love my big owl necklace. I searched for one for the longest time and then finally found its way to me at Plato's Closet.
I need to try that out. I am always bored with my hair. Thank you!!!
You look lovely! This outfit really makes a statement! And the pictures are great, your brother is a very talented photographer! Oh, and I love owls too, and pigtails... it's never too old for pigtails! You look classy and chic, and that's what matters!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

Thank you so much :] I really like how they turned out. :] Thanks!
DeleteI love this outfit. Coral is such a stunning colour on you.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the pigtails... if you feel confident - rock it. As long as they aren't above your ears. :)
Thank you! I wish I owned more coral. I need more vibrant colors in my wardrobe...
DeleteHaha, thanks :]
I love this dress! So pretty. And I think the pigtails totally make the outfit. You are not too old to rock them!
ReplyDeleteAw. Thanks so much :]
DeleteLove the colors and shape of your dress, you look gorgeous! I also ponder the pigtail questions... I always try to justify them by saying, oh well if they are down and loose its okay, or if they are french braided its okay, or if im wearing athletic gear its okay... Obviously, my list of justifications is probably a little too long for a 25 year old "professional", but oh well!
ReplyDelete(Sorry for the creepy double commenting, your blog is adorable and you definitely have a new follower!)
Thank you so much! Hahaha, I think they all sound like good justifications to me :]
DeleteNot creepy at all. Welcome to ShyScout :] Thank you so much for checking things out!!
Your hair is beautiful. I don't think there's an edge limit of pigtails...well, not worn like yours. If they were on the top of your head, that's pretty awkward. Your skirt is so pretty and your photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Haha, yeah I think anything above the ears is a no-no for my age. :]
DeleteYou have the most beautiful hair! And I love the lace!
ReplyDeleteXo, Magen crumpled fantasies
Thank you so much!! :]
DeleteI don't think anyone is too old for pigtails, I personally love the look of pigtails. I loove this dress, that coral color looks amazing on you. Congrats to your brother. I'd definitely see Footloose, it's one of those must see movies.
ReplyDelete<3Honeysuckelle
:] I am glad people still accept them! Thank you so much. I need to find a copy of it!
Deletelove your outfit so cute!!
